How to Stop the Annoying Nag Message in Outlook Asking to Take Outlook Anywhere

Image
I had an annoying message in Outlook 365 which appeared every day saying "Take Outlook Anywhere.  Stay connected to what matters.  Get Started (or Get it Now)"  There appears to be no way of stopping this appearing through the user interface, although you can just close it.  The reminder seems to appear every day  Even after a bit of searching online, I couldn't really see any obvious, clear solutions.  I even found some post suggesting that you need to complete on online form to opt out.  As far as I could tell this was just a data-harvesting scam.  This is what I pieced together to get rid of it. Open Regedit (Start --> Run --> Regedit) You then need to navigate to this node Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\TargetedMessagingService\MessageData\ Right-Click MessageData and choose "Find" Type 425141231 (I got this value by clicking get started and taking it from the URL) You should find a node endin...

List of EE Voicemail Shortcuts While Listening to a Message on my Mobile

List of EE Voicemail Shortcuts While Listening to a Message on my Mobile I was trying to find what shortcuts are available whilst listening to a voicemail.  My phone is on EE, so I don't know if these things differ for Vodafone, GiffGaff, Virgin, O2, etc.  There didn't seem to be a quick reference guide to what numbers do what, so I hope this helps someone.  If not, it will help me next time I'm trying to find them.  In particular, I was trying to find the pause and rewind options. 1 = Listen to the message again 2 = Save the message 3 = Delete the message 4 = Receive a free text with the number which called 5 = Forward the voicemail to another person (on EE) 6 = Pause/Continue 7 = Rewind message 10 seconds 8 = Skip to next message 9 = Fast forward message 10 seconds # = Return the call Hope that helps.  You may need to check for other providers, as you may end up deleting a message you don't want!

NEST Thermostats - Getting a Replacement and Setting it Up

Getting a NEST Thermostat Replaced I've had a NEST thermostat for a little while now.  About 4 months ago, we added a third central heating zone to our house, and got a third NEST thermostat. All was well, until one day, I noticed the third zone wasn't appearing on the app.  A bit of resetting, fiddling and following of the trouble-shooting on the NEST website came to nothing, and so I thought I'd try the live chat.  I wasn't hopeful. But, do you know what?  They were ace.  They didn't make me re-do all the troubleshooting again, they asked me to try something else which wasn't on their website and they concluded that the WiFi chip was fried.  They said they would ship a new, replacement NEST thermostat and then I could return the old one. And two days later it arrived.  I was amazed. But, the reason for my post, which may help you, is that I struggled to setup the new one.  I plugged it in, assumed it would see the heatlink and...

Why I Won't Ever Buy A Radiator From ScrewFix

TLDR =  I'd buy it from Wickes instead. This is quite a saga, but details the issues, complications and frustrations I had when I bought two radiators from ScrewFix.  One was 1.6m x 60cm and was pretty heavy.  I would struggle to get that into my car, so wanted it delivered. Monday 2nd Dec 2019 - Ordered 2 radiators and a roll of reflective foam from the Screwfix website.  These were to be delivered the next day before 6:30pm.  Delivery is free over a certain amount.  They also threw in two free TRVs.  There was a note that the driver would need a hand with the radiators off the van. Tuesday 3rd Dec 2019 - Reflective foam and TRVs turned up with a courier.  Despite being in all day, a "sorry we missed you" note was pushed through the letter box at 9:01pm.  Nobody knocked or rang the doorbell.  Frustrating, as I'd hoped to install the radiator that night. Wednesday 4th Dec 2019 - nobody was at home all day, so got a "sorry we miss...
